Savennières Clos le Grand Beaupréau 2019
Like the "Clos le Grand Beaupréau" parcel, which dominates the Savennières appellation by its altitude (the highest point in the AOC), this cuvée stands out for its power and aromatic persistence.
Grape variety
Terroir
Location: “Clos le Grand Beaupréau” – Savennières
Soil: Schistose sandstone, eolian sand and phtanite (volcanic rock)
Winemaking
Slow pressing and light settling. Fermentation (using indigenous yeasts) and aging are carried out in barrels (¼ of which are new wood) for 1 year. The wine then spends a further year in vats.
Tasting notes
A full-bodied, powerful wine on the palate, particularly in the 2019 vintage. It is very open, right from the first nose. Fruity, with hints of vanilla and almond at the end.
With its structure and character, this wine is a perfect match for 7-hour lamb confit with sweet spices. You can also create a plate with a few green asparagus spears and lightly creamed morels, refreshed with a zest of orange.
Our advice
We recommend a serving temperature of between 12°C and 14°C, with decanting if necessary. It can be enjoyed now, or over the next ten to fifteen years.
